The combined efforts of the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, the Government of the Federal District through its Secretariat of Urban Development and Housing, the Hilario Galguera Gallery, the Monumento a la Revolución Mexicana, Galería Cimentación, and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes—through the Museo Nacional de San Carlos—have today made Susan Crowley’s vision of this exhibition, uniting thirty-six colossal pieces and fourteen photographs by artist Gottfried Helnwein, into a reality. The curator’s enthusiasm and commitment to a dream she had harbored since 1988, when she first came across the artist’s huge faces of children in Cologne, Germany, and decided she wanted to bring them to Mexico and present them to the public, has finally come to fruition after twenty-four years.
